Cerner Highlights RxREVU’s Prescription Intelligence App

Cerner Corp., creator of one of the most widely adopted electronic health record (EHR) platforms, has selected RxREVU’s point of care solution, SwiftRx (www.rxcheck.com), as a featured SMART-on-FHIR application at the annual Cerner Health Conference.

FHIR (pronounced “fire”) is an acronym for Fast Health Interoperability Resources and is a new standard for EHR interoperability. FHIR promises reduced costs and greater workflow efficiencies through organization of the software implementation process and communication of data with the EHR. SMART is a government-funded interface between Health IT systems and outside innovation that enables the deployment of FHIR.

SwiftRx is the world’s first FHIR-enabled Prescription Decision Support application. The application highlights medications along the dimensions of cost and efficacy, using advanced predictive models, based on data mining of millions of historical patient records. The application also provides access to formulary, outcomes and adherence data, along with clinical protocols from leadership and nationally recommended guidelines. By combining medication cost and efficacy metrics in a streamlined Cerner integrated workflow, prescribers are able to make more informed, efficacious, and cost effective prescribing decisions.

SwiftRx users access the SwiftRx application directly upstream of existing e-prescribing functionality in the EHR workflow. When deployed system-wide, provider/payer networks can capture savings of 2-5% of their total pharmacy spend. The innovative application enables hard-wired communication to the point of care, to ensure consistent, informed medication decisions. The end result is improved patient outcomes, lower cost of care, and higher HEDIS and Stars ratings. For the first time, physicians have all of the insights they need, at their fingertips, to succeed in a value-based world.

Carm Huntress, CEO of RxREVU, said “We are excited to be invited as a featured SMART-on-FHIR application at the Cerner Health Conference and look forward to engaging with health systems challenged by rising pharmacy costs. Our prescription decision support solution enables providers to drive consistent, actionable decisions using big data across the continuum of care, to lower costs and improve outcomes. These efficiencies are critical as payers shift to fixed payment models where providers bear more financial risk than ever.”

The Cerner Health Conference 2015 takes place on Oct 11-14, 2015. SwiftRx will be featured in the SMART-on-FHIR applications gallery.
